From plate details to a topped-up toll account.

This page describes every step a top-up moves through, in the same order you will see them on screen. Nothing is hidden behind an account, an app or a callback.

Plate details

On the top-up page you enter your UAE mobile number and pick the emirate of issue. The category and plate code fields load with the options that apply to that emirate. Plate code is requested only for categories that use one.

Amount

You choose a preset of 50, 100, 150 or 200 AED, or enter a custom amount above 10 AED. The picked amount is shown one more time on the payment page before you submit.

Payment

You are forwarded to the secure payment companion. Visa or Mastercard, expiry, three-digit verification value. The connection is encrypted and the card details never leave the payment network.

What happens after you submit the card

The payment companion submits the card to the upstream payment network. If the bank authorises the transaction, you are returned to a confirmation page on this site with the order reference. The same reference is emailed to the address you provided.

The top-up amount is then forwarded to the right toll account using the plate details from step one. In most cases, the funds appear within a few minutes. During peak periods the bank-side settlement can take up to one business hour.

What happens if the payment fails

You stay on the payment page with a short, neutral error message: «Please check the card details». No money is captured until the bank confirms the transaction. You can correct the card details and try again, or cancel and come back later.

Where the money lives

Once credited, the funds live on the toll account itself, not on this site. There is no separate Platenumberup wallet. Spending the balance is done in the usual way, by driving through a UAE toll gantry that reads the tag linked to that account.

What we keep, what we do not keep

We keep the order reference, the chosen amount in AED, the plate details you entered, the email address and the mobile number, for as long as the refund window stays open. We do not keep card numbers; the payment companion never returns them to us. See the privacy and security pages for more.
